The cover and several pages from Detective Comics #535. Set in the early days of Jason Todd’s stint as Robin, this is a brief but fun Batman story with enjoyable, pulpy prose from Doug Moench and atmospheric art from Gene Colan and Bob Smith. Crazy Quilt has certainly never looked creepier than he does here. I always thought he was one of the more interesting D-list Bat villains. He’d make for a fun antagonist for Jason Todd in the Red Hood book, if DC is even bothering with the good guy/bad guy dynamic anymore.
